Do I need to remove the outdrive to drain the water out of it? I had replaced all the gaskets, impeller, and gear lube a month ago and I've only had the boat in the water once since then. I'm going to drain all the water out of the block and manifolds, but I would rather not remove the outdrive if I don't have to as it is difficult to get at right now. I'm just not sure if the water in the outdrive will drain back through the impeller or if it has to be flipped up to get everything out. Alpha One.

Ayuh,.... Storing it in the full down position insures it's self draining capabilities are met....

Drain the block, 'n manifold, then pull the Big hose off the circulating water pump...
It hides 'bout a quart or so...

Re: quick winterizing question.

I actually have a 4.3L (swapped out the 140 that was in there). I took the lower side of the large hose from the circulating pump and then when I pulled the plug on the block nothing came out...?? but i'm assuming most of it came out with the hose through the pump. The manifolds' drain valves leak so they self drained already. I wasn't entirely sure that all the water go out so I removed the thermostat housing and poured anti-freeze into there just to be safe and a bit into the manifolds as well just to make sure.
