Hi Guys
I went out on my buddy's boat yesterday for a bit of fishing and noticed the positive lead from the engine has a red sleeve on the cable that says "do not connect to positive" and the other cable is black connected to ground
He has a 50 hp 1999 mercury all seems to run but the only thing is it cranks over slowly and battery drains quickly.(could be old battery)
could they be hooked up wrong ? I doubt it
has anyone ever seen that red sleeve on what seems to be the positive lead ?
I will go over this am and see if the wire runs back to the coil and do a few check with my meter but was just curious.
Thank you
