Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to replace my Quicksilver 3000 control box. My boat is a 97 Powerquest w/ the Bravo One 454. Over the years, I think it is starting to wear out. Often times the neutral switch will stick, and I have issues getting into forward/reverse. I know any day now that one day I'll be out on the water and it will just fail completely. Looking for some options to swap this out, hoping to be as simple as possible.

Can anyone recommend a direct replacement? I'd like to do this myself and save the $$$ in the labor. I don't think it would be too difficult, I read somewhere that the shift and throttle cables may need to be changed out also. I do have a trim and trailer switch on the 3000, so wondering if there is something that would have that as well?

Pull the old 3000 apart and repair it. It's not difficult. And parts are readily available.

Thanks so much for the responses guys.................@ Chris...........I'd rather not "rebuild" this 20 year control box. I don't think its worth it. I would rather upgrade to something newer. Apparently if I use the Mercury 4000 - link below - I have to change out my cable(s), which is no big deal..............I'm just a bit confused. It mentioned if you use the Merc 4000 that NOTE: The new GEN II controls must use new GEN II throttle and shift cables.

Does this mean I need to change out the shift cable and the throttle cable? Or is there just 1 cable that I need to change?

Thanks Bondo! I think rather than hassling with changing the cables, I'll just go with the SeaStar CH 1752P. I'm certain my cables are fine, as the boat doesn't get used that often. I'll double check them this weekend to be certain, but I just know that Quicksilver 3000 is going to go soon!
