Quicksilver Laser II doesn't fit an alpha?

I have an alpha gen 2 outdrive, tried to put a Quicksilver prop # 48 16548-23 prop on it, and the blades hit the trim tab.

The shell appears to be a bit too far back on the hub, as the machined recess is ?" out of the housing, and the bronze hub and aluminum shell were flush with each other. I put it in a 12 ton press, pushed it in 1/8" farther and it won't go in any more.

Does it need to be heated to go in another 1/8"? That will give me a proper recess on the thrust washer lip, but it may still not allow the blades to clear the trim tab.

Anyone? Thanks.

if you're talking about the anode with the little tab / fin that sticks down... get one that is flat and so won't hit.

Make sure you are using the correct thrust washer. Also be real careful about moving the hub. If this is a standard pressed in hub you don't want to move it after it's been seated. Moving it may let it spin the hub easier.

Thanks for the advice, guys.
I'll cut some of the trim tab anode off to clear.
I don't expect the hub to spin, as it took almost all of the 12 ton press capacity to move it 1/8", and then it stopped solid.

I took the prop and thrust washer to a marine shop, the mechanic said the washer was the normal thickness and shape.

I'll have it in the water next weekend to see what happens.
