Hey there,
First time poster, long time boater. I am wanting to jnow if anyone has ever installed a power shift 2 quicksilver prop onto a volvo penta leg and how you did it. I have an opportunity to buy a next to new hardly used one but i have an 18 spline volvo and its a 15 spline hub. Can the hub be changed. It looks to be full metal no rubber assembly. I was told it could be done but havent been told how or if actually possible. So i ask u, is it possible to have the metal hub pressed or machined out and have a volvo one installed in its place to fit my leg? Thanks in advance

ok. Are they similar. Will they fit. A volvo sx-m drive. 4.3 motor. Looking for a shifter that will give me 17-19 and shift up to 21-23. Any chance you could send me some pics?

Hi. You can certainly get a merc prop onto a VP SX drive. But why you’d want one of those particular props…is another thing. Sorry to be straight to the point…but honestly…they should be banned

Honestly. Heres my reason. I run a 2004 regal lsr 1800 4.3 GL Volvo. Right now i have a 19 pitch high five thats wore down from previous owner. Boat has good hole shot but no top end without me revving the motor to 5500 rpm. Its max wot is supposed to be 4800. At 5500 im doing 47 mph. I want the shifting for top end speed gettin back to the 53-56 mph that the boat is supposed to do. But want to keep the bottom end. I know there are a lot of naysayers out there but as a guy who is farely mechanically inclined. Im 100% sure i can make these props work the way i want. If i go to the 23 pitch prop my boat is supposed to have i wont have the hole shot i need for skiing, wakeboarding. So theres my reason. I know these were a great idea poorly executed. I would like to get one so i can fine tune my boat for what i would like. Sey for being long winded and i think ive explained well enough.

I get that and what you are trying to achieve. You're spot on in wanting to get it right...but in my opinion, there are far better ways to do it...Lots of options there. You are never going to achieve mid 50's with one of those props though. I can put money on it. Even the best of props might struggle...fast as that hull is. Have you thought about a 21" really good 3 blade like an Enertia or tempest ? If it helps, you can't easily compare what any prop will result in, using a high 5 for a base line...they are just that bad top end for slip in being inefficient. they can show hundreds of rpms more than a good 3 blade the same pitch. Up to you..but that's what I would be trying. The power shift prop slip will be terrible

Ok. I will definitely take that into onsiderstion. I have considered other props. I am not sold on my wore high five either. But i have considered getting a 21 pitch and try that. I want to stay stainless tho. I have grown up on boats my whole life and i have seen how poor aluminum perf was in comparison. But that being said aluminum props have come a long ways since the mid 80’s early 90’s aluminums were. Any other recomendations for performance props that will fit my application and be tight. Also forgot to mention. Boat has a waketower with speakers as well as a swim platform installed from swim platforms.com

good stuff...I would say any good stainless prop from merc will be a great start. around a 21'. The tempest in particular I have yet to know being anything but brilliant. I know they run incredibly well on the regal 1900 hull with a 4.3 for sure. loads of acceleration and serious top end too.

As mentioned Enertia, or try a 4 blade. I have had very good luck with a Revolution 4 and Vensura Props. Tried a high 5 was disappointed with it same results as you. For sure you will not keep the same top end and have good holeshot with out repowering with a bigger engine… props are trade offs.

i would like to also try a shifting prop as well but seems like something about it didnt work otherwise probably someone would still make them
