Hi all, new here. Looking for a bit of info on replacing an ignition.

I bought a used 1983 80hp Mercury with Quicksilver controls however the push to choke ignition damaged beyond repair. Will Sierra p/n 87-88107A5 work for my application?

Thank you in advance!

Welcome aboard

I suggest looking at the breakdown of your Quicksilver controls and using the part number listed for the controls to buy the right switch with the Mercury part number.

just do a google search, and a dozen parts places with breakdowns shows up.

ttps://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&channel=tus&q=mercury+quick+silver+controls+parts+breakdown

I would start here https://www.mercurymarine.com/en/us/parts-and-accessories/parts-catalog

however places like crowley marine will be able to go back further.

Thanks for your response. I had a look at the controls listed on Crowley and I think I found the correct one. However, I am just trying to get some sort of verification before ordering since it's a non-refundable item.

Another question....on the controls the black with yellow strip wires were cut. I believe these are for a kill circuit? Any idea on why they might have been cut? Thanks!
