I have a Quicksilver 3000 and the throttle button is broken. After removing the button I can pull it in and out. Now I can't start my boat without the throttle. Is there a way to replace the button mechanism itself? I have pulled it off the console and opened up the back and that is where I am at now. Running another unit would be very difficult and I have found another 3000 with a 8 prong plug. Is it very difficult to disconnect the cables for the motor and I could just run the wires back to the motor? Any and all help would be greatly appreciate.

Don't know which model of 3000 you have but look at the throttle button, item 6 in this link. If you double click on the picture of the button, it will blow it up enough for you to see the locking tabs on the end which hold the button in when installed. Maybe yours has these tabs worn/broken off.

As you see the buttons are available
