"quickstart" problem?

I have a 1990 120hp Johnson VRO. Sometimes after running the boat when I restart the engine it takes a while for the idle to drop (2 - 3 minutes). Other times it drops in 10 seconds. This problem happens sometimes after letting the engine sit (10 - 30 minutes) and sometimes when I try to restart right away after shutting down. Is this a problem with the quickstart system or is this normal? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Sunbird..... It sounds like you may have a defective thermostat (sticking open) which would cause the engine to run longer than normal to reach the normal operating temperture. I'd suggest that you install two new thermostat assemblies to see if that cures your problem.
