Re: radial or bias ply

I run radials on my travel trailer and my boat trailer. Proper, consistent tire pressure is one of the keys. My next set of rv tires will be one step up in load rating. Have them balanced. That will help with even wear also. Buy a name brand. Cheaper isn't the way to go on trailer tires. Good luck.

Re: radial or bias ply

I just replaced Carlisle Bias ply tires on the EZ-Loader with Maxxis M8008 Radials. Haven't taken it out yet (will tomorrow), but I have a feeling that they will be perfect. Using factory size, 185-80-13, at the recommended pressure on the tire itself, 50psi I think. I have never had good luck with bias ply tires, as they always wear funny and don't tend to last as long as they should. And be sure to get them balanced.

Re: radial or bias ply

this topic is a personal choice kind of topic either work great and price wise/ longevity, there both about the same. i had 205 75 d14 bias on my trailer replaced with 205 75 r14 the radials sit lower even though there both 14's both tires hual the same. my dad just took radials off the camper and put bias on we went the to tire store togather and with my uncle and left with 12 tires [i think they had a good day when we left]. my bias were 10 years old and we had 8 year old radials on the camper so again its what you think is better, if you care.

Here a good diagram on radial vs bias ply. yep, radials will sit a little lower. In a bias tire, the entire tire flexes, including the tread. In a radial, the flex is limited (and concentrated) to the sidewall, so it will sit a little lower, and will tend to look like its flat for someone used to bias ply.
