I am pretty good with some motor stuff, but I am going to be installing a new cd player. Can anyone send or tell me wiring instructions. The boat has been pre-wired for the older tape/radio but I am adding new speakers, plus it's not the same plugs as the prior radio. I might be asking on the wrong forum for this info. Thanks for any help!!!!!

Re: Radio/CD Installation

i have just done the same thing in my boat, i just cut the older plug off the wiring loom and wired the wires into the new plug. the radio sometimes tell you what all the different colour wires are for so connecting them up shouldn't be to hard. same withthe new speakers just wire them into the new plug that comes with ya new radio.

Re: Radio/CD Installation

The wiring harness on your new radio should be labelled so you know what goes where. You should see 8 speaker wires, plus switched and continuous power leads. The red wire is usually connected to a switched DC source, but there will be a continuous power lead so you don't lose your radio memory, like your station presets. There might also be a lead for a power antenna, or some other feature you don't even use. The owners manual should explain everything. You will also have to provide an FM antenna to receive radio signals.
