I have a 78 Johnson 70 hp and get noise on the radio when engine is running. Guess I need some sort of suppressor. Can I get it at Radio Shack? What do I ask for and where do I install it ( which wires)?

Are you running the QL77JC4 plugs? The Q means it has an inductive radio suppressor built in.

where is your power for the radio coming from. if you tapped into ignitions switch for power. disconnect and go directly to battery for POS and Neg. you could also have some cracked spark plug wires causing an interference.

Am using standard plugs and am connected to battery through a main disconnect switch. Plug wires are in good shape.

Would there be a device to use in the radio pos. wire?

You might have some luck snapping a ferrite bead on the power wire. Worth a shot - and it's cheap.

Sparing the technical details - it's a cylinder you can snap around a wire. An electronics shop (the kind that carries resistors and the like) should have one. There's probably a zillion places online to get one. I may even have one at home someplace. Let me look tonight.
