Re: rain water in gas johnrude 77
Hi Joe<br />Probably ought to clean the carb bowl just to make sure all the water is out. Since you ran your motor and it runs fine, there sould be no further problems there. Now about those cheep plastic tanks. (I use them too). Seems about half of them are no darn good. The type with the round fuel gauge with the clear plastic cover. There is a lip on the face of the gauge that collects water and fills up the tank. A while back I serviced and tuned an older 20hp johnson for a fellow. He was a little concerned about the motors age and dependablity. I assured him that it would be just fine after I was done with it. This motor ran sweet. I demonstrated this fact to him in the test tank and instructed him on a few fine adjustments (if necessary) once on the water. Being the prudent mariner he is, he took the boat home, washed it and made ready for the next days fishing trip. Well, you imagine the rest of the story. His brand new after-market plastic tank was half full of water. With a quick carb cleaning and fresh fuel in a good tank his motor is fine. If you ever get cought out, with water in the tank, tilt the tank so the pick-up is on the high end. The water will run to the low end, gas being lighter will float. This will allow the pick-up to suck pure fuel. Good enough to get you in.
