Raising outdrive

I have an Alpha 1 and have an issue with the switch on the throttle that raises the outdrive. The "trailer" switch did not work before, and I used the trim up and down switch to raise and lower the outdrive, but when I went to put the boat away for the winter, the trim switch wouldn't raise the outdrive and now the trailer switch worked? Anyhow, if anyone has an easy solution ot something that I could look for, it would be great.
Thanks

Re: Raising outdrive

Sorry, I should have read more posts... Don had posted a troubleshooting guide and I will try that first. Thanks again.

Re: Raising outdrive

That is interesting LOL. Sounds like you may have two problems. First since one or the other switches seems to work your trim solenoid is OK. The trailer switch uses the blue/white wire and goes directly to the solenoid, by way of a connector (with 2 b/w wires) in the stern, so since the trim switch shares the b/w wires after the connector your problem with trailer is most likely the switch. The fact that the trim switch is not working (or only working intermittently) indicates that either the outdrive is raised above the "limit" or the switch may be dirty or corroded (try lowering it all the way then raising it). In an emergency you can jumper between the red wire and the small b/w wire on the up solenoid to raise the outdrive. Good luck
