I'm going to pick up a boat tomorrow with a 150 Yamaha that's been underwater and is siezed. The motor is currently in the down position.
I'll be putting the boat on my trailer and traveling almost 400 miles so I need to raise it up.
Any tips on how I can raise it either electrically or manually would be greatly appreciated. The owner told me the electrical system for the motor isn't working, but I thought I might be able to connect a battery directly to the trim motor.

Thank you.

Re: Raising the Dead

the trim system should still be functional. locate the wires that come from the trim pump thru the port side transom bracket, followthem to the relays and disconnect them. likely the ends have corroded off. bare the wire if you have to and connect the blue to positive and the green to negative.
you will require a 10mm wrench maybe some cable tie cutters and a battery and jumpers.

if this doesnt work low on the stbd transom bracket there is a hole revealing a screw in the trim pump base, this is the pressure relief screw. turn it out c/clockwise to bypass the pump and raise the motor by lifting on the skeg. eat a big breakfast if you choose this method.
