ran aground what did i bend?

Okay, boat runs good. but when I went to shift it into gear I would get some chatter before it went into gear. Today I ran aground and now shifting into gear is harder (I have to use a little force to push it into gear) but no chatter and it does go into gear. Did I bend something when she ran aground? merc pre alpha drive with 305 engine(1997 jasper rebuilt.
Any thgoughts?

Any number of things could be wrong. But reality says you have to physically look at it and see what is bent or binding, or filled with muck, Jammed, broken, or whatever.
Tilt the drive up and look at the shift shafts and around the drive.
