I was out for a Sunday drive and took some pics. I just thought I would share some. I thought how nice it would be if you all could share some boat or marine pics from your neck of the woods.

Dawg:

Please 'splain that railway thingy.

The current railway was built in 1923 as a temporary way of getting boats from Upper Big Chute down to Lower Big Chute or visa versa. They had intended to build a conventional lock but sea lamprey were discovered in Glouster Pool—at the bottom of the railway. They ended up keeping the raiway to prevent the lamprey from migrating into the Trent Severn waterway and connecting lakes.

Heading out the channel;

One of the 8 or 9 in-the-water, stilt houses just south of us;

Heading back in Ghost Creek, just a skip north of Hudson Beach;

Oh, and one last nightly view. This is why we live here;

All West Coast Florida, btw, "Tampa-ish", about 45 minutes due north of Clearwater Beach up the coast

Emony, I`ve seen those houses before. The inlaws just sold their place in Vista del mar. We used to do alot of fishing just off Anclote Key, small world.

If they survive, great and lucky for the owner. If they don't, however, which there are two current "stumpy" reminders, the owners are NOT allowed to rebuild. They were built before regulations came into play. That's why they are inherited now, passed down from generation to generation, because if anything happens to them, the "Grandfather Clause" is out the window. Sadly enough, though, you can go by them just about any weekend and only 1 or 2 of them are being used. I'm sure it's like anything else and the "new" wears off, but I'd find a way to get the whole family/friends/circle of influence involved in keeping them used. As you can see in the picture, this particular one was a bird sanctuary that day.

@blky2k, it IS a small world isn't it? Get back down here ever?

Beautiful pics, folks. Keep 'em coming!
