Posts on this board go back to 2000 (Year). When do they get deleted???

They may get locked but never deleted (unless something objectionable).

I believe they are archived to allow for a large search field for related difficuities (if newcomers would only use them and posters would title properly!!!)

Besides, it's enjoyable reading on a snowny winter's night ( I, personally, had read every one of them in the I/O section prior to my initial posting a few years ago...what a wealth of information!!!)

I'm not a Moderator, just a member like youself. A lot of these old posts have great information in them. When you need help with something, it's always a good idea to do a search prior to posting, to see what info you find. Sometimes, a member will respond to an old one, and then others will chime in, not realizing that it's an old, maybe years old thread. A Moderator will usually catch it at that point, or a member will bring it to the Mods attention, and the thread will be closed; but not deleted. As far as I know, the only threads which get deleted, are the ones that break forum rules/guidelines.

Great minds think alike. I discovered this forum in August 2009. I read hundreds of threads, maybe thousands, before actually joining and posting for the first time in June 2010. We were posting at the same time, saying basically the same thing... Anyway... This is a great forum, full of great people, full of.................................................Great information.

There is an abundance of trials and tribulations on iboats.com. I compare this board to working out. When I was a member of a gym, everybody would have their own way of doing a certain workout. Who was correct??? Know what I mean....

hey that would be a crazy idea.

Imagine an outboard runabout boater like me, who lives on an island where most boaters are open outboard, or diesel yacht owners. buys a year 2000 sterndrive cruiser project.
And all the past threads are deleted.

the guys on here would go crazy with me asking all the stupid questions, all at the same time
then they delete all of them and 5 years later there is another crazy island boy like me

I read thousands of threads on here and it is a wealth of information.

I WOULD NEVER LIKE TO SEE ONE THREAD DELETED FROM THIS FORUM

hope the moderators agree with me and dont even think along those lines.

@least we could gain some knowlege and ask the "educated" stupid questions. LOL
