Ranger boats

I am considering the purchase of a 89 model 371 model Ranger boat powered with an 89model Evinrude 150 V6. Are these boats as good as people say? Are the motors any count? I have heard that the motors will blow up. It would seem to me that if you took care of them then things would be fine. I guess that I am just looking for some general input of owners who can share some stories with me as to why or why not they do not recommend this boat. Thanks for your help!<br />oshi

I still consider them to be the best built and reliable bass boat on the market today and in 89 they stood out even more.The competitors have improved significantly since then and there are more good boats out there,all with their own advantages.Ranger also has great customer support and is #1 in customer satisfaction according to JD Powers.

Ranger is reputed to be a well built, good fishing bass boat but maybe a little slower than some of the "go fast" brands because they are a little heavier which gives it the better ride.. On the motor, an Evinrude on a Ranger should be same as an Evinrude on any other brand boat. Be sure to check the entire deck to be its solid and has no rotted areas.

Top of the line. Check the hull as with any fiberglass to see if there has been major repair which would indicate possible stuctural damage. If no damage, you probably can't do any better than a Ranger. I learned from buying a premium fiberglass boat once that had a structural problem that you can see the problem if you check it closely. The boat had been run aground and only superficial repairs had been made. It was not a ranger, but a yellowjacket..Ranger is the Cat's Meow.

Ranger is a good boat, and there are a lot of other good boats out there now also.<br />The Rangers are slower, cause like was stated before they are heavier than other boats because they use a lot more floatation in them, hince better ride and floatability(I think thats a word )
