"Rattle noise" in 351!!!

OMC 351 5.8 efi 1993. Was out today and heard a "rattle"noise in the front part of the engine, only at lower rpm, could this be a water pump sign??

Get an automotive stethascope and listen for the loud noise.<br />No way in the world can we tell you where the sound came from. There are lots of things on the front of that engine that will make a rattling noise. Tensioners, alternators, powersteering pumps, raw water pumps, ciruclation pumps......
