Once engine is running warm at idle with choke open you want to see pretty much the same amount of water exiting the exhaust as what is going in. The exhaust is an open ended system with constant flow, the only cooling water that isn't continually exiting is what is in the engine block. Once the thermostat opens that water can exit and be replaced by incoming water supplied by the sea water pump

About this much this is an MC1, this guy has a lot of water pressure to the muffs so if you are on a well may be a bit less

I think that was a casing drain used on some MC-1's but not sure @Bondo may know

Ayuh,..... There's an idle relief port on each side,......

Don't drill anything, but you can poke around it abit,.....
Ya might find an ole shutter bit in there,....
Any exhaust or water not comin' outa those ports is expelled through the prop anyways,....

That's the drain for the front cavity of the drive lower housing. Yes, it must be clear, or the water in there will freeze and crack the housing. Poke, prod, anything to clear it. One some drives I've worked on I've had to drop the housing and also start clearing it from the top as well as poking and prodding from the bottom.
