Volvo SX-C1 transom ID. Indmar/Barr (GM) 5.7 engine. (factory spec for direct drop in for SX-C1. )

I've looked up best I could online. Looking for the raw water hose from pump to transom plate, for the intake.I assume it must need to be a molded one to avoid the bends etc?

Was gonna call Indmar tomorrow but trying to get something done today being I have the time.

Also do I put a raw water stainer inline here? Any suggestion on one as I see many of them at all different price points.

Likely two elementary questions here, thanks guys!

Where is the raw water pump located on your new engine, that is going to determine what hose it takes. Obviously your old one doesn't fit????????

Good point Don, sorry. Here is a picture to help. I don't have the older hose as the boat came with no engine etc. I put this engine in. thanks for your help.

Volvo came in from the transom shield, did a U turn to the power steering cooler, then went down under the manifold on the Starboard side of the engine engine into the raw water pump which picked up from the starboard side.

wow, that volvo spec you describe does not seem it would work for my setup, that helps me to move away from looking at the volvo hoses.Thanks. It doesn't look like it but Is the link below the part you are describing? Looks like this might be a tricky one to solve.Go figure...a hose.

I'm just saying that in general, the Volvo engines have the hoses coming down the stbd side of the engine, not the port like yours is set up.
The engines that used the SX-C1 drive didn't even have cranshaft mounted pumps. So basically, nothing Volvo is going to be a direct replacement for your Indmar engine, unless Indmar makes one. It's one of the hazards of using something that isn't OEM, you just have to be creative.

Agreed, Thanks for removing some variables quickly. I'll start looking into other options..as I understand elbows are not good for this type of run? Maybe a different thread all together..

Why make a new thread on the same thing? There is no hose for what you have, unless Indmar makes one. You are now into finding what works. The one thing you do need is reinforced hose so it doesn't collapse. It is on the suction side you know. A single long flexable reinforced water hose of the correct diameter should do it.

Ok, I was referring to the acceptableness of an elbow with Raw water line..But agreed a long hose that would let me arch it would do the job just fine but not be as "fitted" to the space..which only matters to me.The water coming in does not care. ;)

Re: Raw water hose from pump to transom ? SX-C1....

What Don said regarding collapsing hose should be taken seriously (as should most everything else he says). I had to create a custom hose routing solution because I added a sea strainer and a heat exchanger. The initial hose I used was collapsing under vacuum and resulting in the engine running hot. Fortunately this surfaced at the boat ramp with the boat still hooked to the trailer. Find reinforced water hose and order plenty of length...with a sharp stanley knife and some patience, you should be able to find a solution. Regarding elbows: generally you want to maximize bend radii in your plumbing system (i.e. avoid elbows). If you can't figure a reasonable solution without them, I can't imagine that one or two would be nearly as bad as asking a hose to do something it doesn't want to do.

Thanks again guys, JM, agreed I don't plan on skimping on the hose. I might get the trident but the shieldsflex looks fine. Just don't have to many boat friends to just BS and bounce stuff off of (my main one just had a kid so..) and the old timers at the club are great guys but can be kinda grumpy with the "new guys." Just trying to learn.I really appreciate the help and advice.
