Hi
I'm new to the board, this is my first post so try and go easy on me!
I have a twin engine sport fishing boat with
1979 Crusader CH 270 straight inboards in it. The engines are closed cooling "half systems" so the manifolds run raw water.
My question is this: Can I run both engine's raw water pumps thru one raw water intake strainer? I bought a Groco ARG1500 from eBay that was incorrectly advertised as an ARG1000. The 1500 strainer is HUGE and is rated at 120gpm/10 in hg while the ARG1000 (minimum recommended size for the engines) is rated at 40gpm/10 in hg. Flow rate is not an issue but I'd like to know what the possible problems might be..

Thanks

No, you need 1 strainer and thruhull fitting for each engine.

Hi DonS,
Thanks for the quick reply. I would like to make sure I stated my problem accurately although I expect your answer to be the same.
I do presently have two separate thru hulls each with its own sea ****; the thru hulls are the standard scoop type strainers. I am adding strainers inside the boat that have a clear bowl and a removeable/cleanable stainless steel basket because I ruined a pump last year sucking up debris.
Thanks again for the reply.
