Hey Guys.
1996 OMC 5.7L GL #572BPCNS SX leg
Can a Johnson raw water pump be re-sealed with new bearings and all?
I think it is # 3855778 replaced by pn3858847.
Does anyone know the bearing and seal numbers?

Re: raw water pump leaks at shaft

Hi,

I have the 4.3L version of the same system (although it has a Volvo engine and a OMC drive) I had the same problem earlier this year, a few drips everyday. Don said that this was a sign of failure and there was no way to rebuild them.

I found a place on the web (Kobe's Marine in MD) that had a killer price on the pump replacement, about $150-200 if I remember correctly. There is a model number break in the NC year that is important to know to order the right part.

I called them on the phone and with a couple more digits outside of the NC, he was able to identify the proper pump. The unit was a Volvo part, dropshipped directly from Volvo. Prefect fit.

Later,

johnbo

Thank You Fellas.
11 year old pump, I guess it served it's purpose.
