Hey Guys :

I own a 1982 Johnson 50 that is mounted on a 1965 Boston Whaler that I have been in the process of re freshening. I put in a new water pump and a new engine side wiring harness and was wondering what a good # to look for when I do a compression test on this motor? Also i want to confirm that 50 : 1 is the correct fuel mix? Is there anything else i should change for preventative maitenance? This motor has extremely low hours, but has been sitting a long time. It started right back up again and seems to run fine. Thanks in advance to any answers to these questions!!! Paul:)

50:1 is the correct mix....you may want to change fuel lines ..if sitting they may have started to breakdown inside and you hate to have a peice lodge in the carb....

did u change lower end oil also to see the condition of it....I have a 1983 35 hp and my compression is around 115...

Thank you very much for info - yes i changed lower end oil now - and always did religiously before too - it looked a little dirty - and a tiny bit milky - but i attribute that hopefully to a little condensation for 10 years of sitting and a missing rubber seal on top filler plug hopefully:eek:
