Is it possible to re-hub my 1975 15 hp thru hub prop? I have a machine shop, so I could do the work, but where can I get the new insert? Is there any secret to getting this in? I hate to get new if I don't really need it. It's the "standard" one for the 15: (0386118 PROPELLER,9-1/2x10) Are there other tricks for increasing friction, like adding a washer or something ? Thanks.

any prop shop, can rehub it. there is more to it than just pressing in a bushing. there is the balancing, they come back good as a new one.

If you insist on doing it yourself, the hub is available direct from BRP http://shop.evinrude.com/
Look at the parts list for a 1984 model. The hub is part number 386119.
Now, having said that, the rubber is bonded to the metal hub portion. They slip when the rubber tears loose from the metal. There is no way to tighten it up--only replace it. The catch with doing it yourself is it has to be spun into the prop. That is to say that it has to be rotated as you press it in. Lemme tell ya, I worked in an outboard shop and I tried it....and sent them to the prop shop ever since. Ain't easy.
