I'm trying to remove the lower unit becuase 2 bolts or studs that hold the motor to the mounting bracket are broken so the motor won't shift becuase the motor is leaning on the rod. I removed all bolts to lower unit and it dropped about 3/4 of an inch my question is do I remove the rod from the inside of motor where I think there is a bolt holding it on. Next question were there studs holding the bracket on the moter or bolts.

Thanks for all your help Angel

Motor is a
2004 Evinrude 250 not an e-tec

Not for certain, but I think you need to unhook the shift linkage in the motor compartment.

Look for shift linkage under the carbs.

I think that's direct injection.

Yes it is Direct Inj.

I figured it out. I did have to remove the linkage from the engine bay area under the throttle body.

Thank for your help.
