Just recieved my solas rubex 4 12.75 x17 from iboats,for 03 F90 yamaha,$115 on sale sweet!the prop. looks well made and more robust than the fact. alum. 3blade.New prop came w/ a rubber spacer from the front of the prop, to the inside of lower unit.the necked down front of the prop is short by 1/4 3/8" to be snug.. will the rubber last?, will the prop act like a vented prop w/o the spacer?will it stop fishing line like the factory prop that fit into the lwr unit w/o the rubber?anyone have experience w these props?

i just installed a new rubex propeller that came with the rubber adapter ring. when i tightened the propeller it would hardly turn. i took the rubber ring off and it turned easily. i'm afraid the difficulty of the prop turning may cause some problems? any advice?

i,m the guy who ask the question about the rubex gearcase adapter ring that goes on the forward end (motor side) of the propeller. the ring looks like a rubber band. with it on and the prop tightened the prop will barely turn by hand. i haven't run the motor on the lake. with the ring off, the prop turns easily. the instructions say put the ring on. instructions for installation of the prop are written by michigan wheel marine. instructions for the snap gearcase adapter ring are in a separate plastic bag with rubex and solas written on it. it concerns me that the prop is so hard to turn with the rubber ring in place and i assure you the nut is not over tightened. the plastic bag also has "rubex props" written on it. help please. i am trying to a new prop on my boat

Yes, it sounds like somethings wrong with yer installation,...
The prop should spin, in neutral, without interference from anything touchin' anything else,...

Did yer old prop use a separate bronze thrust hub, on the shaft, before the prop,..??

Did yer New prop come with a complete new mountin' kit, with a thrust hub, lockin' washer, 'n nut,..??
If not, I'm guessin' ya need a new Hub Kit to go with yer new prop,..

I just got a rubex 4 blade aluminum, im going to install it tomorrow-it did not come with a rubber washer. I would not use that if I were you. It only has the big silver one for in front, called the thrust washer.
