How much (how many inches") can a prop be "re-pitched" at a good prop shop?

They can't change the true pitch without cutting the blades off and repositioning them. However, most props can be altered to lose or gain about 400 rpm. Basically 2" either way.

Now, a good prop shop can make a great deal of difference on performance props. It all depends on what hull you have and what prop you have and what you need.

A good prop guy is an artist - no question. and they can do some amazing things with the right prop, etc... that being said, unles you're looking to spend a good bit of cash, if you need to go more than an inch or so in pitch, it's probably much smarter to buy a different prop.
