HI
I have a 2001 200hp Johnson on a 21ft Hurricane deck boat
The motor had very low hrs on it when I got it 3 yrs ago
I took the boat and motor in trade for some remodeling work
The kids use it to tube and ski mostly and we use it occasionally to sight see
Still fairly low hrs, doesn't get used alot

When I went out with it this year after storage all seemed fine except I'm not sure it is fully going into reverse
It growls (?) grinds alittle when I shift into reverse (this has always bothered me but I told it is normal) and prop spins in reverse
When I give it gas it hops a little on the transom (it's not loose on transom) and almost feels like it isn't fully in gear
Not really like a clutch slipping more like not engaging fully

I replaced the steering cable when I first got it ( thats another issue) but I didn't mess with the throtle/shift cable
I didn't have any shifting problems for the first few yrs
and maybe I don't now
I just don't want to damage anything

I'm sorry if this is vague
I'm very much a novice when it come to the workings of outboards
What info can I supply that will help to diagnoe if there is a problem or not
Thanks Jeff
