I am going to re-power my old 1976, Aquasport 24' Family Fisherman. It has a vintage 1984 Yamaha 200 hp on it now and has been very reliable and plenty motor for the boat. It is old and has a bad cylinder now so I want to re-power with a used Yamaha so I can try to use the existing controls and gauges. Can I consider including 225 and 250 hp motors in my search? There are a couple used 250s available in my area now but I'm wondering about "over powering" the boat. Anyone out there have any experience or advice with this re-powering business?
