Offshot question to my earlier thread:

I realize there is alot of "depends upon" in any answer without seeing the job in front of them but any idea is good info............

Is re-rigging from a Merc 60 to an OMC 90 a large job?
What would a really rough hour estimate be to re-rig if I switch?

If you got the right equipment and do the job correctly I'd say about 8 hrs. But everyone is different. This includes a water test and ect.

Thanks for your reply boobie - I don't have the proper equipment (or experience)will leave this one to the pros.

I was just trying to get an idea of the switch cost to factor into the purchase price of the OMC 90hp.

Much appreciated!

Nothing real complicated, but you will need to switch to the OMC controls and wiring harness as well as the motor. Switch everything out and adjust properly. Give it a sea trial to see if motor needs to be raised or lowered, or if the prop is correct for your boat. The wiring should be plug and play. The control cables will need to be the right length, and then a link and sink done for the motor so a manual is very handy.
