Rear cross rail cracking at motor pod attachment

Have Sweetwater 1770 with Yamaha 40 hp outboard. Noticed this summer the rear cross rail has developed cracks where the motor pod is bolted to it. Cross rail is 1 x 2 x 1/8" C-channel. Bolts from pod only go thru bottom flange of rail. I have added 2 stainless bolts up thru the bottom and top flanges, floor and carpet as a temporary fix. This just doesn't seem right for a boat that's only been on the water for 3 1/2 summers. Any suggestions for a permanent fix? Thanks.

Hope you didn't mess up by trying to fix it yourself.

agreed, if it is only 3-1/2" years old, get it fixed under warranty.

It's a good thing you found it before it gets any worse.Contact your local dealer. Hopefully it will be ready by next spring. good luck.
