An update on my 50 Evinrude. It is a 1988 VRO E50BECCS
Been using it most of the summer, and it will idle, but the rpms are very high. In fact many times after I throttle down from WOT the engine wants to run on. And on Saturday morning it began to miss on WOT, seems to almost cut out then catch but it would run at a lower RPM. So I decide that I would try and rebuild the carbs again. I followed the manual removed the carbs and started to tear them down. I found them incredibly clean, and all the passages where good an clean. The carb on the top the center pickup looks like it could be bent??? I am sorry about the picture being blurry. The bottom carb on the manifold the pickup was in the center, not touching the outer tube like this one.

Could this be my problem with the idle?

Another question???? what could cause the engine to miss at WOT??

i don't think you problem is the carb, it sounds like a coil breaking down when it heats up. you need to check spark immediately on the water when it starts missing.

Would that bent pickup tube in the carb keep it from idling right???

The small inner tube is as it should be. Just make sure that it is clean. Don't move it or the carburetor will not function properly.

Ok
The bottom carb's pick up tube is centered in the bigger tube, this one is the top carb and it is bent and touching?
So this is right?
I have linked and sync the carbs and like I said it will idle, but many times it will act as if the end is running off. Like something stuck in the carb??????

I have gotten two brand new coils for 35.00 and I can get two carbs for 100.00

Advice would these be a good buy.

I would not spend one cent on a 2 cylinder 50 HP without a compression test.

These are carbs, not an engine. ;)

What are you going to bolt them on? You need a sound engine to start! We stress this again, and again.

My engine is strong, it runs it just has had idle problems. In fact the compression was 120 110 I think
