I'm getting a pair of Mercruiser 188HP ( Ford 302's) Rebuilt. They are currently 2 barrel carbs with points and condenser. I'm up grading to electronic ignition, 4 barrel Carbs & manifold. My question. Can I use the standard fuel pump or do I need to upgrade to something different.

Thanks

IN addition to Bondo & Rick’s advice, be sure to use a dual plane intake manifold along with the correct marine carburetor. If the cam has to be replaced make sure that it is for a 351 firing order and that it is close to the original profile of your present cam. With this combination you will have around 225 hp. Also just use a Petronics conversion for the ignition.
Some one once brought me a boat with a 188 that was rebuilt but would not run right, the rebuilder installed a stock 302 cam so the firing order was wrong and he ended up with 170 hp.
