Help!! I've just rebuilt my 94 88spl and I have no coolant flow out the telltale. Pump is new, thermostat kit installed, new water reflectors, heads resurfaced. I don't want to open up the heads again as everything is new and I really can't aford more gaskets. Thanks in advance.

Is there water flowing anywhere above the foot? If you installed the pump you might have missed getting the water pipe into the pump when you reinstlled the foot. Ask me how I know that one ;-).

Make sure the telltale hose/nozzle is not plugged up. You can pull the telltale hose off the engine and see if it's flowing water. Those small hose/nozzles do get plugged up with sand, weeds, etc. If not, likely the problem is in the lower unit. I'd pull the lower unit down and make sure the impeller key is still intact (not broken)

So I thought the water pipe in the lower unit may have come out. I dropped the unit and re aligned the pipe. Is there anyway to test this without running the engine for a few seconds? I'm on muffs.

Not that I am aware of. Those few seconds would be like any other startup anyway.

If it's not peeing, check where the foot connects to the motor. There might be a pee hole pointing forward and it may leak at the joint between the two. If your getting that then I suspect there's something blocking the flow up.

What if you hook the hose directly to the water pipe directly? Will it pee then?

Or if you have forced air. See if you get air out of the pee hole.

Is it safe to blow compressed air up the water pipe? Telltale hose is clear. (had mud daubber in it but I cleared it).

Sure, air is fine. it's part water anyway.

You should get a stream of air instead of water. Then you know the path is clear. The thermostat opens and runs water through more of the engine when the water through the pee circuit is not enough. And its a tell tale sign the water pump is working.
