1988 150hp Evinrude battery always died after two/three hours of running. The problem started after engine was rebuilt. <br />First thought stator, <br />then maybe reg/rectifier.<br />Solution:<br />As it turned out, when the engine was rebuilt the stator leads were NOT connected and one of them ended up being painted, yup, the connection part too, during rebuild.<br />Finding this, I cleaned off the black paint reconnected it and all was right with the sea god.<br />The battery now recharges correctly and I'm a happy boater again.<br /><br />Thus maybe, just maybe it's NOT your stator or reg/rect!<br /><br />Hope this story helps someone who may have "Bad connections!"
