I have been getting water in my engine oil. So i decided to pull heads and intake and take a look see what was going on. When i did i discovered intake manifold gasket was no good. I ordered a gasket set and replaced all gaskets and reassembled motor. To my dismay still getting water in the oil. I probably ran the motor for a total of 1/2 hr. Assuming there is a crack in the block. I just purchased a junkyard block and am preparing to rebuild motor. One question i have is can i reuse head gaskets. Im trying to keep the cost of this project down because the boat is not probably not worth the work im putting into it but figured it would be a good project. (excuse to keep me in the garage haha) also i would accept any pointers on this rebuild job.

have ya seen this..

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=369864 link 2 could be helpful.

no ya can't reuse a head gasket. they are a one time use only item...

get a mercruiser service manual. it tells ya how to rebuild an engine in it (kinda sorta). follow all the procedures. rebuilding an engine is not just R&Ring parts. the parts need to fit to proper tolerance.

hopefully the pros will let ya in on more than i know...

thanks ill check that out. im well on my way so far only snag so far is the fuel pump. gonna have to change to electric pump from a manual. the block i got isnt set up for a manual fuel pump. but seems like that is an easy fix guess ill cross that road once i get the motor back in the boat
