Hi,
I am rebuilding a 1989 Evinrude 150, Model E150TLCEM. I have had the block bored, all 6 holes, to .030 oversize. My OEM shop manual says that after boring, I should restore the chamfer to all port edges using a ball hone, but gives no instructions as to how to do this correctly. My Clymer manual does not mention this procedure. Is this necessary? If so, how do I do it? How much chamfer is the right amount?

Re: Rebuilding Evinrude 150

if you feel with your fingers the edges of the ports are sharp.
this might hang up a ring.
they need to be smooth out.
so the sharpnes is gone.
usualy a machine shop does this for you.
you better check that out before you go further.

good luck
