the manual said there are four nuts holding on the spacer plate that goes between the powerhead and the lower unit. Manual said not to remove exaust tube unless replacing. There are five nuts. One is closest to exaust port very rusted and damaged. All other bolts look good. Is this extra nut for the exaust port or the spacer plate, plate wont come off and i cant get the old rusted nut off. Exaust port held on by screws i think. please any advise, will i have to get this severly damaged mut off?

Hey you need to get that nut off for sure it .If its rusted it will take the stud with it . Just take off the exhaust pipe no big deal . I think its only rtv for a gasket on the exhaust pipe . Be carefull they break easy around the mounting screws and dont drop it . good luck ! Jim

Hey Dave glad to hear it came off ! Thats why I have the shop and clymers manual . I have found it to be helpfull to compare the two . I have rebuilt my force twice ( I am very hard on it a lot of off shore running )and love the engine and great on gas! Its an easy one to rebuilt . Just make sure you have a good machine shop do your machine work ! Go force ! Jim
