Rebuilding

We're rebuilding a 1981 175HP evinrude, anything we can do to get more power/torque out of it?

What are you calling rebuilding??? Is it a flat back or bubble exhaust??

It has a bubble exhaust, if you mean through the prop

Out Board engines, unlike vehicle engines, don't offer much in the line of bolt on hop up parts. So rebuilding the engine back to factory specs is probably the best you are going to get. But that should be stronger then it presently is by far. JMHO

What he means by bubble back is the exhaust cover between the 2 cylinder banks. Is it a bubble or is it flat?
