After getting everything back together and hooked back up I could get it start but it idles like it's at mid throttle. I adjusted the idle screw on carbs which helped a bit but still high. I know the linkage can adjusted but manual not so clear in how this is done, any pointers?

Sounds to me like a vaccuum leak. Usually when you
Cant control the idle it's the culprit. Make sure the butterfly's are all fully closed. If they are then investigate

Thanks for the response,
Alright I will investigate the butterfly's and vacuum,

To back up a bit, when I first got it started gas was spewing out of the bottom carb, shut down and pulled card and re cleaned, installed again and no gas spewing out, don't know if that has any bearing on anything or not.

What year and model number?

Normally you don't adjust the idle RPM on each carb, there should be one adjuster that changes the idle timing.

Be sure the link ans sinq are 100% correct. The aftermarket manual i had was not getting me close enough on my 1989 50hp. Had to bring it to a mech that I knew to get him to set it up. After that it was easier to get it idling right. I hope this helps

Update on idle issue, I did figure out the main issue, float in bottom carb cracked, so new float installed and now I have no spark?
It's like the kill switch lanyard was pulled off dash!
I checked trigger with multimeter and it was good then a storm ran me inside so other than that I'm at a loss on the problem?

Still chasing my no spark issue, leaning towards stator but not sure.
I checked with ohms meter and the readings were blue to ground 2924, red to ground 112, from my research I do not believe this is within specs? Any help?
