I have a 1998 Lund with Mercury 60 elpto engine. The engine was performing great when I stopped using it 4 years ago, I decided to sell and have been getting it running again. I cleaned the carbs and put a new impeller in the water pump. I started and ran it on the muffs on water hose, it was peeing a nice stream when I first started then slowed to a dribble. l put the boat in the lake and noticed it peeing a small stream when I first started it, I took off and noticed it was only dribbling. I accelerated for just a moment to make sure the engine was running smooth and immediately returned to the ramp. The engine didn’t feel hot when I shut it down. Before I stopped using the boat it would pee a good stream. I’m wondering if I need to replace the thermostat. I removed the telltale hose and it is clear. The engine is fairly low time for it’s age.

or you simply need to clean the bugs and debris from the tell-tale nozzle

What I do is shove some heavy fishing line up as far as I can while the motor is running on muffs. My hand gets wet and covered in bug bits. Try it.

I’ve ordered new gaskets and a new coupler, when I get those on I will try this.

The weedeater string in in the ell fitting on the bottom of the water jacket did the trick, cleaned out the obstruction, it’s now peeing a stream like I did when I was a kid. Thank you for the tip
