I am rebuilding the Carburetors on a 1976 johnson 115. I am wondering if any body has a guide or just some advise as what to look for and what I need to make sure gets clean and if there are any adjustments that I need to make.

I am useing Iboats 18-7046 carburetor kit. It has no floats but I think the floats are ok. I have a manual and will be following it. I was just wanting to know if there are any secrets to makeing the job easier.

Thanks Guys.

Easy steps to follow Bill.....

Soak them out in carb cleaner after disassembling them. Follow up with carb cleaner in a spary can....spraying thru all the passages....follow up with compressed air. Run a wire thru the jets to make sure they are open.

I always pop out the core plugs also. I want to make sure I get it clean.

Follow the assembly instructions in the manual. Don't forget to set the float level.

Yes just be sure, you dont put anyhing plastic in carb cleaner. I use a sharpened punch to remove plugs , just be carefull. Dont punch too deep. I just drive it through , (carefully) and pop them out.
Be sure to have a clean work area, especially for reassembly. I use a piece of plastic, cheap shower curtains, work well for me. They cover my work bench just right. If I have to stop midway , I just pull up and over them. No worries about any foreign objects, finding their way in.
I use them over and over, just spray them off, and let dry.
Some like to use clean cloth , like old sheets. I dont like the threads and the like.
KYHunter
