I'm re-carpeting my bunks and i have read that Home depot and Lowes have marine carpet with a good price that comes in 12' wide rolls which is thin. However I see that home depot has thick runner rug, ribbed, 26" wide with rubber back outdoor use and heaver than the 12' rolls. The runner stuff is priced at 2.87 per ft. . . sounded good. Then I went to Lowes and they had the same rolls of runner carpet in 36" wide at 2.87 ft sounded even better. The Lowes 36" runner is labeled "steel wool", it dosent feel like steel wool and I think it was also labeled as made of something like poly???? something. Question . . . Has any body used the Home depot or Lowes runner stuff and found that it did not scratch the glass boat surface. Thanks for any feed back.

I used regular indoor/outdoor carpet from lowes. I think it came in a 8' x 6' roll For 20.00
They had it in a dark grey or green. I used the grey and so far i havent had any issues. I also sprayed it with bunk spray from west marine and it works.

I used cheap gray indoor/outdoor carpet from Home Depot when I did the bunks on my last trailer, lasted for 10 years without ripping or falling apart. I had 10' bunks and had them cut 2' off the 12' long roll, plenty for the job. My bunks were not exposed to direct sun light, probably why the carpet lasted so long.
