My 83 70 tripple doesn't begin to produce any power below 5500....I replace a 40HP with the 70, and at 5000RPM it would be about the same speed as the 40.
Set it up for 5500-nothing less..I've owned this engine since 1990, and 6k has never given a problem.
this is why i love this site, so many people out there to help noobs like me. i run it at WOT from point a to point be though. will it be a problem reving that high or should i let off a bit when i plane and hit top speed of *sigh* 31mph? i guess thats pretty good though for this old motor pushin my 18' monarch. what prop and pitch do you run on your 83 merc? i just bought a 10D * 14P michigan hope thats about right. thanks again
ok well thats good to hear sounds like i am somewhere in the target area then. but when u go from point a to point b do you run wide open or take it off a notch? and how fast do u hit is 30 decent for that motor? thanks
30 is real good....these are very small props.
I like to run hard unless water conditions won't let me. I do however, pull back to atleast 5800 on long runs (over 4-5 miles).
