recharging issue- amp overload?

I have a 60hp 1996 johnson o/b to which I am currently adding a perko 4 way switch and a deep cell battery for a trolling motor. My concern comes from reading a couple of older postings that talk about never charging a deep cell with anything except a trickle charger. Does my O/B charging system have low enough amp output to prevent damage to the deep cell battery when I am running my motor and switch to recharge the trolling motor battery? I have had this setup on a boat previously, but I never looked to see if there was a regulator between the switch and the deep cell.

Charging from your motor is ok but if you
troll for hours at a time I dont think it will recharge enough between each time. Its not necessary to trickle charge though that is a good way to to bring any battery back to a complete charge.
Roughly speaking 1 hour of use takes 2hours
to recharge and so on.

Re: recharging issue- amp overload?

Thanks spike....
I just wanted to make sure that I wasnt going to ruin a new battery. As far as charging is concerned... I fish in the marsh and use my trolling motor only to maneuver short distances so it shouldnt be to much drain on the battery. I just use depth finder, lights, trolling motor just enough to need the security of the seperate deep cell. Thanks again
