Hi Guys,
Twin Mercruiser 4.3 L/X 1988 RWC engines
I've been plagued by stiff controls, the shift cables and control cables have been replaced which has greatly improved the problem. I think the remaining resistance lies in the shifter so i need to either service it or replace it. Does anyone know where i can get this info (see pic)? Also I need to do some final adjustment on the cables as the drives are clonking into gear, and i have one of those crap manuals, so is the mercruiser service manual a good purchase or is there some online info that will cover control cable adjustment for this engine?
Engine running temp problems
When cruising one of my engines has no gauge temperature reading and the other is getting to hot, i grounded the sensor wires and obtained full scale on the temp gauges. I pulled the thermostat housings and found one of the spring loaded balls had jammed in its holes and the other stat had corroded holes around its edge i'm hoping these were the problems but will check all sendors prior to re installing. My question is, the thermostats are held in by brass collars, these look like they are going to be fun to remove, any tips or is it just perceference?
Thanks Guys Bob
