Recommeded Oil

Hey, I am building a 4.3 to go back in my boat, my experience is in building automotive engines, and I have my preferred oil brand a weight I use for that. Well with this being a marine engine, and a freshly rebuilt one, what do people usually run, straight weight or multi. Additionally, I live in Key West so its almost always hot. I am thinking of straight 30 or 10w40, kind of a toss up and I am looking for advice.

I use straight 30 in mine, this is what the mfg. recommends. Shouldn't have to worry about any cold weather starts in key west.

Same here, I'm using 30w in mine following the manufacturers recommendations. I wouldn't go to a 10w30 or 40 unless the temps. go down below 0 celcius for any length of time.
