Need advice on a restoration. I picked up a 1974 Chrysler fury 14' for 300$ with the trailer. Ripped out the flooring and transom and everything is going great. Here's where I'd like a "been there done that" input. I cut off the rear lid to work from the inside.
When I ripped out the transom it was 3/4" construction ply with a poor glass job...holding a 50hp....yea. The gap on the lid is 1 1/2" so whoever redid this boat before did not build to spec as there was a 3/4" gap between the transom and lid that holds the motor, in fact it cracked and you'll see it in the pics.
Should I cut out where the transom will meet the lid, and do a complete and fresh glass job? Or grind it back and only re glass the lid lip to the transom? I hope I'm explaining myself well.
I've used marker to illustrate my intentions
