Have 1979 Cobalt i/o 350. Batteries are old and worn out. Running two with a switch plate. Just wondering what type/brand of battery is best??

Re: recommended batteries

You might be best off visiting a West Marine if you have one nearby or even a Walmart and pick up a couple of the newer dual purpose Marine Cranking/deep-cycle batteries.

Re: recommended batteries

have had good luck over the years with Sears Diehard deep cycle batteries. Last Spring, I bought a large deep cycle and starting battery from Boat U.S. (about 950 cranking amps, I think). I've used the Sears batteries in outboard runabouts, but currently have an old 305 inboard -- using a two year old Diehard and the Boat US model. I'm pretty pleased with the Boat US product, so far. I guess I would recommend the biggest battery you can afford (both reserve capacity and cranking amps for starting). And two batteries are a necessity, I believe.
